Overview
The Rainland is named in the public record as the wet country east of the Wall — Second Quarter land under perpetual storm, where mud and reed shape every road and every dwelling. Chronicles remember it as a place few western travelers enter willingly, and fewer forget.
Storm and Reed
Public accounts speak of dark clouds that seldom break, lightning over the mire, and tall reddish reeds rising through the mud — plants travelers learn to respect. Standing water and soft ground make the Rainland a barrier as much as a homeland.
Peoples of the Rain
Tribes of the Rainland keep villages on stilts above the flood. Some chroniclers count them among Rionese remnant cut off since the Fault; the Archives keep that question open. Emria of the Rainland is named among them in the public character records.
Among the Quarters
Maps place the Rainland east of the Wall and the Mireland, on the road toward Boundland and the City of White. Its storms feed the bog country to the west. Further records of later journeys through the Rainland remain sealed.
